Khun Sukanya Darbthip and the teachers of Thai Central School were attending the Victoria State Community Languages School Conference . The Conference held on Saturday July 3rd, 2010 at Story Hall-RMIT Swanston Street, Melbourne which attracted interest from 340 participating teachers from community language schools.
They were welcomed by Stefan Romaniw OAM Executive Director, Community Language Australia. He was later interviewed by Dusadee Kunsan from SBS radio Thai program (93.1 FM ).
The Conference was officially opened by Liz Beattie MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier for Multicultural Affairs and Martin Dixson MP, Shadow Minister for Education.
The purpose of the Conference was to promote -
* A strong foundation for further work in community languages schools
* Enhanced curriculum resources
* Improved Professional Development
* Teacher Training Courses
* First Aid Courses (Level 1, 2) Anaphylaxis
* Raising bilinguality among children
The Conference showed that community languages schools are genuine complementary providers of language education in VICTORIA and focussed on looking at ways of improving educational outcomes.
