Everyday Classes

There is no need to wait for normal classes to start. We are going to start to run "Everyday" classes. All we need for a class is you and a friend. Maximum 2 people to make or start a class. You can choose any day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays. The teaching level can be what you want, elementary or advanced. We can organize for your needs.

* All classes can be any day/anytime Monday to Sunday between 10:00 am – 19:00pm
* One single person 5week, 2hours per session total 10 hours for $230.00
* 2 people 5week, 2hours per session total 10 hours for $180.00 per person
* 3 people 5week, 2hours per session total 10 hours for $150.00 per person
* Provides class materials and car parking under our building.

9TH National Community Languages Schools Conference

Khun Sukanya Darbthip and the teachers of Thai Central School were attending the 9th National Community Languages School Conference . The Conference held on Sunday July 3, 2011 at Story Hall-RMIT Swanston Street, Melbourne which attracted interest from 340 participating teachers from community language schools
.
The conference theme Partners in delivering language education in Australia reflects the strong role community languages schools play in linguistic and cultural maintenance and the endeavour to build meaningful partnerships with students, families and the community.

Participants were welcomed by Community Languages Australia Executive Director Stefan Romaniw and AFESA Chairman Tassos Douvartzides. Both highlighted the roles an responsibilities of Government and community language schools when a partnership is formed. The State Government's commitment to languages education and community languages schools forms a strong base for strengthening the partnership.

This Conference reinforced the need for strong policy positions and also provided practical advice on how to be effective teachers in the community languages schools setting and how to form and utilise partnerships.

Meet and Greet - New Ministers

On Saturday 4th December, 2010 Thai Central School Melbourne will hold the Graduation's Day for students in Adult and Children Classes. The event will hold at Simonds Catholic College 273 Victoria St, West Melbourne 3003.

Dr.Simon Wallace, The Royal Thai Consulate General will be our guest of honour and will also give certificates to our students.
The ceremony will start at 1 pm which included:
- Dr. Simond Wallace Thai Consulate General presents certificates to students
- Children Perform Thai Blessing Dance

Good news for foreigners who are interested to learn Thai with us in Thailand. We are growing up, progressing onward, giving our students knowledge. The Victoria State Community Languages School Conference

Khun Sukanya Darbthip and the teachers of Thai Central School were attending the Victoria State Community Languages School Conference . The Conference held on Saturday July 3rd, 2010 at Story Hall-RMIT Swanston Street, Melbourne which attracted interest from 340 participating teachers from community language schools.

They were welcomed by Stefan Romaniw OAM Executive Director, Community Language Australia. He was later interviewed by Dusadee Kunsan from SBS radio Thai program (93.1 FM ).

The Conference was officially opened by Liz Beattie MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier for Multicultural Affairs and Martin Dixson MP, Shadow Minister for Education.

The purpose of the Conference was to promote -

* A strong foundation for further work in community languages schools

* Enhanced curriculum resources

* Improved Professional Development

* Teacher Training Courses

* First Aid Courses (Level 1, 2) Anaphylaxis

* Raising bilinguality among children

The Conference showed that community languages schools are genuine complementary providers of language education in VICTORIA and focussed on looking at ways of improving educational outcomes.

Our Patron

The School welcomes Thomas Hazel AO as its patron. Mr. Hazel has a long and distinguished career in public service in Australia, is responsible for the care and restoration of many public buildings, and has supported the School and its teachers and students in many ways.

Khun Sukanya Darbthip also can report to have met a very experienced teacher Salee Silasthum. She is responsible for developing a curriculum and teaching material of teaching Thai language for Thais people who has lived overseas and Khun Salee Silasthum has been honoured by the Thai government for nonformal education. She travels extensively in Europe taking part in seminars for Thai language teachers. See here for more details and other details.

Songkran Festival

On 21 March 2010 Thai Central School joined the 2010 7th Annual Thai Culture and Food Festival at Federation Square. In this event, the School had a stall to advertise its activities to visitors.

We were pleased that Dr. Simon Wallace, the Royal Thai Consul General visited our stall. In addition to the fabulous choice of mouth watering Thai food, the amazing cultural shows, the Thai product stalls, the traditional Thai Beauty contest and the Drum Parades the 2010 Festival at Melbourne's Federation Square featured live performances by the amazing Thai International Dance Group Sbun-Nga direct from Thailand. There was also a thrilling 8 round Muay Thai Kick Boxing competition.

There were two SINGHA Beer Gardens – one featured live music; the other was for relaxed dining. Interactive Thai Cooking demonstrations went on throughout the day. There was a Sunshine Friends Concert for Marysville which featured Normie Rowe, Doug Parkinson, Kevin Borich, Issi Dye, Tony Barber of The Aztecs and Tiara.

Federation Square is at the corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets in Melbourne. The festivities started at 10:00 in the morning and finished late. Watch out for next and 8^th event of Songkrank next year always bigger and better.

Multicultural Fair

On 28 February 2010 Thai Central School was cordially invited by parish priest Fr. Max Polak to attend a Multicultural Fair and present Thai Culture at the 110th Celebration of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church together with other communities in Melbourne; the Maltese, Polish, Chinese, Italian, Lithuanian, Macau, Indian communities. In this event the school sold Thai foods to visitors. All profit was donated to the church. The School’s efforts were kindly sponsored by

· Reuan Thai Restaurant 323 Stephensons Rd, Mount Waverley VIC 3149 owned by khun Mayuree (Tu) and her husband Virath

· Bai Yok Thai restaurant 244 Glen Eira Rd, Elsternwick VIC 3185 owned by khun Tik and her family.

The food was very popular and even though there was much food it sold out quickly. The School was lucky that it was able to position itself next to the entrance to the hall.

Thai Central School Grant's Report

Thai Central School now has been operating since 19 July 2008. We recently submitted an application to obtain Victorian government funding for our Thai children students. Our team worked for several months to put together our submission for funding.

TCS is now very pleased to announce that we have received funding accreditation from the Department of Education And Early Childhood Department (DEECE). This accreditation runs until the year 2012. We are very thankful to the government for giving us this extra funding to help the long term viability of our Thai School and to assist the Thai Community. The funding will help us with our rent costs at St.Mary Church Campus (Simonds Catholic College), in paying our teachers and in helping us to provide the best educational resources for our child student in the future.

We wish to thank the Thai community for its ongoing support during the past year and especially our mothers group. We also wish to thank our dedicated teachers and we compliment our adult students on their efforts and the support they give to the School.

On Saturday 5th December, 2009 Thai Central School Melbourne held the Graduation's Day for students in Adult and Children Classes. The event was held at the new location for children's classes Simonds Catholic College 273 Victoria St, West Melbourne 3003.

The Mission of the TIWA is to provide culturally-appropriate information, welfare and referral services to the Thai community in Victoria.

Thai Central School on the move

Thai Central School Melbourne has expanded by moving its children’s classes to new larger premises in Victoria Street next to St Mary's Church at Simonds Catholic College.They are in 5 classrooms. It has each room now for 20 children with a proper playground and off-street parking close to Victoria Market. The New Generation College at Elizabeth Street premises will now accommodate two classes each of 15 adult students.

Grand Opening "Thai Central School"

Dr Simon Wallace, the Thai Consul in Melbourne officially opened the school 31 January 2009. Phrakhru Tanee (Abbot of Wat Dhammarangsee) attended the opening ceremony and blessed the school and the teachers.
